Weekly film reportage on Kosovo’s Roma community, a new project, started in May. Every week the production crew of Sami Mustafa, Charlotte Bohl, and Faton Mustafa prepare a short report to be broadcast on Yekhipe, the Roma language broadcast on Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) national television.
The reports are intended to bring a wide variety of subjects, across the breadth of Kosovo, on all aspects of Roma life and what affects this community, to the television audience. The 26-week project is being implemented by Balkan Sunflowers for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). This is part of an OSCE supported project on assistance to strengthening RTK non-majority programming. Reports thus far include pieces on forced refugee returns from Germany, the progress of the Mitrovica Roma mahalla, higher education opportunities, the Council of Europe education mediators program, potential returns from Skopje, Romani language curriculum, conditions at the Plemetina social housing buildings, documenting the undocumented, and scouting. |
