PBLC opened its doors on the 19th of April 2013. Since then the fundamental reason for our work has been to provide an opportunity to children from minority communities to develop and progress in order to become active participants in the construction of a more inclusive society.

This task has been a difficult one. Initially the main challenge was registering and engaging the children to participate in the center. Gradually however, the attendance rate has increased and now we receive an average of 50 children daily. PBLC in cooperation with the BSFK school mediator have managed to decrease school dropout rates by returning many children to school. This has been achieved through constantly supporting and encouraging the children’s academic and personal development. Besides working directly with the children we are on the way to creating a triangle of cooperation between the center, schools and families in the community. At PBLC we place great emphasis on the participation of parents and communities in our work. We believe that they have a great role to play in enhancing their children’s capacities to learn and to thrive.

What does PBLC offer?

Our center is a safe space for children and youngsters to have fun and share meaningful experiences while learning about the world around them. It is inspiring to see their daily progress and the skills and knowledge that they can gain through our activities. Our staff and tutors are the motivation that keep things moving forward and it is their commitment and dedication that will continually guide the children in their development. This is achieved not only through their words of wisdom but by providing the children with positive role models in their lives. It is our hope that the days ahead will bring us more opportunities for making a difference in our community, resulting in bigger accomplishments and even greater dreams.
