There are many things which you can bring with you if you're volunteering, or send along with people who are.
For our projects with children and young people, we can never have enough:
- Bean bag / bean bag chairs
- Children sized tables and chairs
- Games and toys
- Children's books
- Picture books
- Sports equipment
- School stationary
- Whiteboards
- Visual reference books - atlases, encyclopedias,
- Audiovisual equipment - DVD players, TVs
- Art materials
- Science equipment
- Cartoon DVDs
- Poster paints
- Bicycles
- A car! - (no harm in asking was the thinking behind this one!)
- Laptops (Pentium 3+)
- Computers (Pentium 3+)
- Digital cameras
- Knitting wool and needles
- Materials for craft projects
- Mini-DV cameras
Donated items make sense if they are good quality donated items and if someone coming to where we work can bring them. Shipping or purchasing new items elsewhere to donate is usually not practical. |
